Undergraduate and Freelance Work
This section of Mackenzie's digital portfolio includes work samples from the past five years completed in her undergrad at Shippensburg University, internships and freelancing.
ONESHIP Privilege Walk
Mackenzie filmed, edited and produced this video. ONESHIP hosted a privilege walk to allow student-athletes as well as SU athletic administration gain a new perspective about their very own athletic community. The most obvious, important realities are often the ones that are the hardest to see and talk about. In order to see change, we need people with privilege to reinvent their perspectives. Everyone in attendance learned that no matter where they ended up after all 25 statements were made, their position was based on factors out of their control. On this small scale, ONESHIP made strides to visualize the intersections of identity, privilege, and marginalization present within the Shippensburg athletic community.
Senior Capstone Project
Behind the Scenes of Ship Athletics
The goal of the senior capstone project was to have students film, edit, and produce a show to go live on Comcast highlighting an aspect of Shippensburg University. Mackenzie and her partner chose to highlight the people that make Shippensburg Athletics successful. Their choice for this topic was to show appreciation for the people who make Shippensburg Athletics run smoothly.
Internship Video Work
While on staff as an intern for the Communications and Marketing Department at Shippensburg University, Mackenzie worked under Media Relations/Digital Media Manager Megan Silverstrim and Videographer/Producer David Oliver. Mackenzie assisted on these projects in a variety of ways. She observed the way the videos were edited and learned techniques, collected b-roll, found people to interview, brainstormed story ideas, served as talent on camera, recorded VO, etc.
